I stood as a Tory Candidate in the local council elections in May 2000. I didn't get elected but then my fellow candidate and I didn't exactly have one of the easiest wards to fight! Hook Meadow Ward, is a very interesting place, with a real mixture of standards of housing from some of the most expensive ones in Medway, through to some of the most run down council housing in the area.
Since the election I have been made an Officer on the Executive Committee of Chatham and Aylesford Conservatives, and hopefully will get to stand for election again! And believe me - you have no idea just how much work is involved (or how many blisters you get on your feet!) during an election campaign.
