The Chat Page

Welcome to the Chat Page. Well, I started off with no idea whatsoever what I wanted to put on this page, and I continued with STILL no idea whatsoever!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, you may have guessed I quite like Virtual Places Chat. If you've never been on VP, have a look at www.visualplaces.com or www.halsoft.com . To use Virtual Places you have to download a special program to be able to use it. You run the program to connect to the internet instead of using Internet Explorer. In Virtual Places you not only see the normal text chat, but also you can see "AV's" (avatars) which are basically pictures people put on the screen to represent themselves and "Gestures" which are a mixture of text, pictures and sounds, kind of like a 3 second movie.

Anyway, at some point I may write more about it, depending what demand there is, so if you have any problems with chat, or getting it going etc, email me at phil@phil-3.co.uk and I will reply as soon as I can. If I get a few questions, I will start up a FAQ page, so come back and see what's new!

So, to help out, I'll start you off with a few downloads for you. Below you will find a few of the basic programs you will find essential if you enjoy chat as much as I do!

The following programs have to be RUN once downloaded to install.

Build (version) 155 works best on Win95 and Win98 (1st edition).

Excite Chat client (build 155) (2.122KB)

Build 157 works better on Win98 (2nd edition) [in my opinion!!]

Excite Chat client (build 157) (2.122KB)

Megahead is a program which runs like a game from Virtual Places. It makes your AV bigger than normal.

Meg.exe (769KB)

Gallery is a "patch" which edits VP so that you can see your own "Mega AV's" using the normal browser.

Gallery.exe (129KB)

Bubblet is a "patch" which edits VP so "Gestures" stay on the screen longer, so you've got time to read it.

Bubblet.exe (129KB)

The following file only has to be moved to the correct place.

Neutron Room Buster is a prog to get you into a room when it is full. Copy to and run from your desktop.

Neutron.exe (63KB)

The following file has to be unzipped first and then moved to the right place.

If you get an error "missing file msvbvm50.dll" when running Neutron, try copying this file to "windows/system" directory (win98 and 98se- I don't think the problem occurs in later versions).

Msvbmv50.dll zipped into Dll.zip (674KB)
